Guru Jagatsinghpur, Odisha

Health insurance is essential not only for the well-to-do sections of the society, but it is even more necessary for the economically weaker sections of the society. Dipti Ranjan Guru from the Jagatsinghpur district is one of the program beneficiaries who secured his life with insurance schemes.

"I work as VLE in Earsama and always worked to help and support my fellow villagers. Earlier I was not aware of various Government schemes to help rural people, whether saving schemes or insurance schemes. After attending the “Jaadu Ginni Ka” training program about financial literacy, I learned about various schemes that can change the lives of rural people by making them financially secure.

The insurance scheme for rural people is one such scheme where I thought I should invest. I subscribed to the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana(PMJJBY). Now I feel my family will be financially secure in case of any mishappening. I am also planning to take health insurance to cover my health needs. I am sharing these benefits with my fellow villagers and wanted to thank the “Jaadu Ginni Ka” team for empowering people on financial aspects by bringing such useful information to rural areas.

The story tells us that changes in financial behavior should, in turn, lead to improved financial outcomes. Financial outcomes may include achieving a specific financial goal such as establishing an emergency savings fund, decreasing debt, or insurance schemes to cover the financial losses.
