Meenakshi Biswas, a 32-year-old resident of Kashipur, Uttarakhand.

Meenakshi Biswas, a 32-year-old resident of Kashipur, Uttarakhand, is deeply rooted in the art of weaving, a skill she inherited from her grandmother. From her early years, Meenakshi engaged in weaving, mastering the craft through years of practice.

She would weave beautiful dresses for her family and friends. Despite her expertise in weaving, she never thought of using her skill as a medium of earning. She would just laugh out and ignore anyone who suggested her to start her own venture.

The big turnaround in her life happened when she was asked to join the financial literacy training program of the Jaadu Ginni Ka program. She just accompanied her sister-in-law to the training. But little did she know that the Jaadu Ginni Ka training was the turning point of her life. Through the trainings, Meenakshi gained a comprehensive understanding of various financial concepts, providing her with the necessary skills to venture into entrepreneurship.

Meenakshi decided to establish her own weaving business. She began crafting clothing pieces and showcasing her creations for sale, setting up a display in the basement of her home. Initially her neighbours and relatives were her customer base. However, slowly more and more people started visiting her display base and purchased her material.

Her exceptional craftsmanship quickly caught the attention of the local community, leading to a growing customer base and a steady influx of orders. Meenakshi claims that she successfully sold over 30 pieces of clothing right in the first month of her entrepreneurial journey, and earned a revenue of around ₹ 6,000.

“My revenue fluctuates every month, some yielding around ₹ 10,000 and others soaring to over ₹ 40,000 during festive seasons like Diwali and Makar Sankrati. I am grateful to Jaadu Ginni Ka for empowering me and making me realise that I too can be a business woman. I look forward to rent a shop to expand my space and market” Meenakshi said when asked about her entrepreneurial journey.

Meenakshi's journey exemplifies the broader impact of the 'Jaadu Ginni Ka' program, reaching beyond individual beneficiaries to uplift entire families. By becoming an earning member, Meenakshi has alleviated financial burdens from her husband, thereby fostering economic stability within her household.
