In the heart of Odisha, a group of ten determined women from Sarala Self-Help Group (SHG) embarked on a journey of transformation. Their mission? To revive a failing poultry farm and secure a better future for themselves and their families.

Hailing from the village of Pagarpani in the district of Bargarh, in Odisha, the SHG was fueled by a shared ambition to achieve something significant. They had initiated a poultry farm business but could not sustain it as they lacked the necessary skills required to do so.

In August 2023, members of the Sarala SHG got the opportunity to attend the Jaadu Ginni Ka (JGK) training sessions. Armed with newfound knowledge and support, these women took charge of their poultry farm's destiny. With guidance from JGK experts, the women implemented strategic changes. They secured a bank loan, adopted efficient banking practices, and implemented effective inventory management. Through dedication and hard work, they transformed their struggling farm into a profitable venture.

Supported by the Odisha Livelihood Mission and empowered by JGK, these women achieved more than financial success. Sukanti Naik, Bhoomisuta Narmada, Radhabai Sahu, and their fellow members gained financial independence, taking active roles in managing their families' finances.

The success of Sarala SHG didn't stop at their farm gate. Their enterprising spirit inspired neighboring women's groups in Odisha and Chhattisgarh to pursue their own entrepreneurial dreams. Their ripple effect of empowerment continues to spread, transforming communities one initiative at a time.

Today, Sarala SHG stands as a testament to the power of collective action and determination. These women have not only revived a poultry farm but have also revitalized their communities. With their newfound financial stability, they can provide quality education for their children and pave the way for a brighter tomorrow.
